How to care for your cork Mat

Before dishing on the easy steps of mat care here are a few things about your mat that makes it a true treasure for your practice:

  • Cork is anti-microbial and anti-bacterial- keeping it from deteriorating and making it safer for you compared to synthetic
    materials;
  • Cork has an amazing grip and it only increases when wet making it easier for you to enjoy your flow without multiple
    “surprise slips” and if hot yoga is your go to class then feel free to forget your towel at home;
  • Cork has a natural wood-like smell, so no weird odors as you practice your downward facing dog pose;
  • The mat lays flat,so no more fidgeting while trying to get into warrior pose;
While cork is amazing you probably guessed that like any quality product it still needs a bit of TLC so you can enjoy it for years in a row.
Here are a few easy quick tips:
  1. After a practice use non-alcohol wet tissues or a slightly damp cloth to clean the mat gently
  2. Leave the mat to air dry for 5-10 minutes
  3. If you can”t let it dry at the studio just do it once you are home
